How do I turn an AI-generated song into a music video for social media?

Treat the lyrics as the storyboard and the song as the timeline: give each lyric line one shot, turn the shots that matter into short moving clips, cut them on the beat, burn in the lyrics, and export 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. SunoMV does those steps from a pasted Suno link.

The short answer

Don't generate a whole music video from one prompt. Use the lyrics as the shot list, make a still for every line, film only the shots that need motion, cut on the beat, burn in timed lyrics and export 9:16. If the song is from Suno, SunoMV does the shot list, stills and lyric sync from the link, and you pick which scenes become video. If you are editing live footage, a general editor like CapCut is the better finishing tool.

The workflow, step by step

This order works whichever tools you use. Each step is small enough to check before you spend time or credits on the next one.

1. Split the lyrics into sections

Mark intro, verse, chorus, bridge and outro. Give each section one mood and one setting, so the video changes when the song changes.

2. One shot per lyric line

Write a short shot description for every line and draw a still for it. Keep the same lead, wardrobe and colours across shots — that is what stops it looking like random AI clips.

3. Move only the shots that need it

Turn the chorus, the hook and the close-ups into 3–8 second video clips. Stills with a slow push or pan are fine for the rest.

4. Cut on the beat, captions on the vocal

Change shots on downbeats and section changes. Time each lyric to the moment it is sung — most people watch the feed on mute.

5. Export vertical

1080 × 1920, 9:16, MP4 (H.264), 30 fps. Keep captions above the bottom fifth of the frame, where the app buttons sit.

Where SunoMV fits, and where another tool is better

SunoMV is built for one job: a finished song in, a lyric-synced music video out. It is not a general video editor.

Use SunoMV when the song is from Suno

Paste the Suno link. The audio and the lyrics come with it, SunoMV writes one shot per lyric line, draws a still for each, and films the scenes you pick into clips.

Songs from Udio or elsewhere

Download the MP3 and upload it — local audio upload is on the Plus and Pro plans. Pasting a Suno link is the route that is free to start.

Use a general editor for live footage

If you are mixing in phone footage of yourself, finish the cut in CapCut or DaVinci Resolve. A general image-to-video model (Runway, Kling) suits one-off cinematic shots you will edit by hand.

From AI song to posted video in SunoMV

The same five steps as above, done from one link.

  1. 1

    Paste the song link

Audio and lyrics come with a Suno link. From Udio or another generator, upload the MP3 (Plus and Pro).

  2. 2

Pick a look and check the preview

SunoMV writes one shot per lyric line and draws a few preview stills first. Change the style before you generate the rest.

  3. 3

    Film the scenes that matter

Turn the chorus and close-ups into video clips; leave the rest as stills with motion. Add face photos so the lead stays the same.

  4. 4

    Export for the feed

Choose 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, 1:1 or 4:5 for feed posts, 16:9 for YouTube. Lyrics are burned in so the video reads on mute.
